The FRC Chairwoman was shot down on her request for support from First Reformed Church in Schenectady for the rebirth of the college student-run FOOD PANTRY at First Reformed Church of Schenectady's affiliate Trinity Church in Rotterdam (at the FRC "Consistory" Board Meeting on Tuesday, October 10, 2017). First Reformed Church in Schenectady treasurer, Cathy Lewis, wife of politician Bradley Lewis, pushed for not financially supporting the Trinity Church FOOD PANTRY; and said that the poor in Rotterdam could go to SICM.

However, it is very difficult for moms with strollers and kids to have to take 1 to 2 separate CDTA buses from Bellevue/Rotterdam to Downtown Schenectady (especially in the cold, rain, sleet and snow); and then transfer to another bus, the 355; then get off on State Street and walk through Hamilton Hill with kids to SICM.

On October 10, 2017, two longtime white members of First Reformed Church (FRC) in Schenectady, New York, said they felt abandoned by their pastors as members of an FRC "Membership & Fellowship Committee". The senior citizen church members expressed their concerns at the "Membership & Fellowship Committee" meeting after first addressing the pastors with their grievances, BUT NOTHING WAS RESOLVED... They said the pastors ignored them.  I attended the Church Committee Meeting and listened to the two senior citizens and longtime church members tell their story and how others in the church felt abandoned by the pastors. 

EDITOR'S NOTE: It was ruled for the first time, by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, that a blogger is entitled to the same free speech protection as a journalist and cannot be liable for defamation unless the blogger acted negligently. Last Sunday, October 15, 2017, First Reformed Church Pastor Bill Levering literally dressed like a clown and publicly belittled and made light of people who complain — and the pastor ranted about his dislike of CELL PHONE/FACEBOOK/SOCIAL MEDIA BLOGGERS (First Amendment Rights) of people who complain about INJUSTICE. Joe Paparone is the Clergy & Community Organizer with NYS Labor-Religion Coalition and the Advocacy Coordinator at FOCUS Churches of Albany. Joe is a life-long New Yorker, having grown up in the Mid-Hudson Valley, near New Paltz. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the College of Saint Rose in 2004 and a Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2012. The New York State Senate refused to pass the CHILD VICTIMS ACT again this year as a result of power steering by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the NYC-based Catholic League run by Bully Catholic Crusader Bill Donohue, Albany Diocese, politicians, and the Roman Catholic Church / Vatican.


Bill Donohue, the President of the Catholic League, loves to attack the survivors of priest rape and nun abuse or anyone standing up for victims of pedophile priests.

Donohue has been a consistent critic of same-sex marriage. He faulted the owners of the Empire State Building for failing to honor Mother Teresa in 2010 and Cardinal Timothy Dolan in 2012. He said: "There's no question that they're much more at home honoring mass murderers there at the Empire State Building and I'm not being facetious." 

Bill Donohue targets political analyst and parents' rights activists through his group of Roman Catholic Church Jesuits, government officials, politicians, lawyers, secret Human Services Police, medical professionals, business managers, and laity. 

In June 2016, following the close of the New York State legislature without action on the Child Victims Act legislation designed to help survivors of childhood sexual abuse, Donohue wrote: 

“The bill was sold as justice for the victims of sexual abuse, when, in fact, it was a sham: the proposed legislation that failed to make it to the floor of the New York State legislature in the wee hours of Saturday… was a vindictive bill pushed by lawyers and activists out to rape the Catholic Church.”

The City of Schenectady received a $2.5 million licensing fee associated with the new Rivers Casino & Resort on Mohawk Harbor. In June 2016, the city reached a deal with the Police Benevolent Association on a contract that includes a retroactive raise of 2 percent for 2014 and 2015, as well as a 2 percent raise in 2017. But the city did not anticipate settlement of the contract — or the associated $1.6 million in additional expenses — in its 2016 budget. Several City Council members campaigned on the idea the casino licensing fee revenue, which was not included in the 2016 budget, would be used to relieve the burden on taxpayers, said Council President Leesa Perazzo, adding that she’s committed to at least a 5 percent tax decrease in the 2017 budget.

Councilman John Polimeni was the only councilor to vote against using money from the general fund for the new labor agreement. Instead, he suggested using the casino money for the $1.6 Million dollar labor union agreement, instead of using the casino money right away to lower the financial burden of taxpayers of Schenectady and its citizens.

During the American Revolution, seventeen (17) men from my family served under Major Gabriel Long as part of the Culpeper Militia and came to General George Washinton's aid at Valley Forge. Most of the men in my family became Prince Hall Masons. These Freeman Blacks of my family moved from Culpeper, Virgina, in the late 1800s to Hopewell Junction, Poughkeepsie, New York. 

It was Thomas Peters, a slave and native of the Lower Cape Fear region, who became a British loyalist. Peters convinced the British to resettle 1,200 Black loyalists in Sierra Leone, West Africa, a British colony. There they had their own government, they enjoyed equality as British subjects, and they lived free since slavery was outlawed. Peters’s colony was the foundation of the modern African republic.

 So why in seeking a more inclusive and respectful term as an aspirant and emergent national group did they not just call themselves “The Association of Afrikaners”. The answer lies in the tell-tale use of the term “regte” meaning “real” or “true”. In asking why they needed to do this, the obvious answer is that there must have already been people that called themselves “Afrikaners” and a language ‘Afrikaans’ that the new association wanted to both distinguish themselves from and lay claim to the term and language for themselves. It is this political usurping of the term “Afrikaner” or “African” and the language of “Afrikaans” that is the more interesting story than what became the dominant narrative.

My friends, I know for sure that THERE IS NO PERFECT CHURCH IN THE WORLD. However, I have found for over 40 years, visiting many different churches, that the best churches that are NOT causing divisions in the body of Christ (1 Corinthians chapter 1) and schisms (to keep having to revise their "Book of Church Order" aka BCO), are NON-DENOMINATIONAL Evangelical Christian churches—where the ONLY book and doctrine is the Holy Bible.

After NON-DENOMINATIONAL churches, the United METHODIST church, and most Reformed Church in America (RCA) make it easy for people to join their churches by suggesting you attend an introduction class. Moreover, I have found that both the United Methodist Church (UMC) and Reformed Church in America (RCA) do not require you to be approved or rejected by "elders" for membership in their respective denominations.

The house of the Lord” at Jerusalem was King David’s place of worship. King David rejoiced with those who said, “Let us go to the house of the Lord” (Psalm 122:1). The same was true for believers in the early Christian church.

PLEASE STOP BLAMING THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH and OTHER CHURCHES for why you have Not found a Bible-based church to go to and worship God one day a week with other believers.

PLEASE GET IN TO A BIBLE-BASED EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH, where the Word of God is taught unadulterated and reject the rituals, religious lies and Tradition(s), idolatry, and hedonism of mankind. JESUS INVITES YOU TO COME PRAISE AND WORSHIP GOD FREELY—DRESSED AS YOU ARE, AND WITHOUT DESPOTISM, LEGALISM AND MANMADE DOGMA!

Margaret “Peggy” King retired from SCCC in 2010 after working there for 28 years. She graduated with a Ph.D. from the University at Albany and moved to the historic Stockade neighborhood soon after. King, who was born in Gloversville and grew up in Ocean City, New Jersey, previously served as the associate dean for student development at Schenectady County Community College. She also previously served on the boards of the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation (DSIC), Electric City Arts District, and the former Schenectady Local Development Corporation — that became absorbed by the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority, etc. The Schenectady Local Development Corporation (SLDC) gave small, low-interest loans to help start new businesses, including Ambition and More Perreca’s on Jay Street. The City Council decided not to send more federal funds to the Schenectady Local Development Corporation (SDLC) in June 2012 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), signaling the time had come to dissolve the SLDC.  Metroplex Chairman Ray Gillen said the SLDC was the only economic development agency in Schenectady County that wasn’t needed. Metroplex was criticized by the state for having too many local development groups. “This one came out as maybe we can get rid of it,” Gillen said, noting that it was the only one with its own staff. The six other groups at the time in the county share the same three Metroplex staffers.


Peggy King currently serves on the boards of the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, Sunnyview Foundation, and Schenectady County Community College Foundation and the oldest church in Schenectady with a 325-year history.
